Emotional scenes unfolded on Monday as some of the nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners and detainees released by Israel returned home to Gaza and the Israeli-occupied West Bank, reuniting with their families in tears and celebration. Thousands gathered inside and around Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, to welcome those freed under a U.S.-brokered ceasefire deal aimed at ending two years of devastating conflict in Gaza. The same agreement also led to the release from Hamas captivity of 20 Israeli hostages, who were tearfully reunited with their families in Israel.
