At China's 15th National Games, two-time Olympic gold medalist Sheng Lihao added a long-awaited top domestic title to his resume, winning the men's 10m air rifle final for Jiangsu Province with a score of 254.6 points in Guangzhou on Tuesday.
The eight-time World Cup winner Sheng made his National Games debut four years ago, finishing with bronze in the mixed team event. The 20-year-old, who has already earned two Olympic gold medals and a world title, led this star-studded final from start to finish.
The competition featured 50m rifle three positions Olympic champions Liu Yukun from Shaanxi and Zhang Changhong from Shandong. But Sheng built a two-point cushion heading into the final two shots, maintaining control to secure his first National Games gold.
Jilin's Wang Yutong claimed silver, while Liu Yukun completed the podium with bronze.
