A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Thursday said China's normal economic, trade and energy cooperation with countries all over the world, including Russia, is justified and legitimate.

Spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks at a regular press briefing in response to a query on U.S. president's statement on China's purchases of Russian oil.

Lin said the acts of the United States are a typical example of unilateral bullying and economic coercion. Such actions seriously undermine international economic and trade rules, and threaten the security and stability of global industrial and supply chains, he said.

Regarding the Ukraine crisis, China's position remains consistent, objective and clear, he said. China firmly opposes the U.S. frequently making China an issue, and objects the abuse of illegal unilateral sanctions and long-arm jurisdiction against China, he noted.

Lin added that if China's legitimate rights and interests are infringed upon, it will take resolute countermeasures to firmly safeguard its sovereignty, development and security interests.
