Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday delivered a keynote address at the opening ceremony of the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women in Beijing. He emphasized women play an important role in creating, promoting and carrying forward human civilization, adding that the international community shares a responsibility to advance the cause of women.

CGTN invited Shahnoza Amirbekova, a Tajik student at Renmin University, to share her thoughts on President Xi's speech. Shahnoza said, "His words remind us that women's rights are human rights, and that global progress depends on the empowerment of women everywhere."
