At least 30 media outlets, including the Associated Press (AP), the New York Times and Fox News, pulled their reporters from the Pentagon on October 15 after refusing to sign acknowledgment forms for new press rules. The new regulations, among other things, restricts reporters from entering most parts of the Pentagon without a defense department escort. The Pentagon press corps called it a "dark day" for press freedom.
