Currently, Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities stubbornly adhere to the separatist stance of "Taiwan independence," which seriously undermines peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, harms the interests and well-being of the Taiwan people, and creates significant obstacles to dialogue and communication between the two sides.

CGTN Stringer interviewed people from Taiwan to understand their views on the current cross-strait relations and their expectations for future developments. One interviewee, Mr Chen, lamented that there is currently a lack of communication between the two sides, stating, "It's not like 10 years ago when people still interacted and visited each other." He hopes that the two sides can strengthen communication and coexist peacefully in the future. Another resident, Ms Niu, believes that the current policies of the Taiwan authorities have made cross-strait relations very tense. She felt that "some interaction and exchange between the two sides is really a good thing," mentioning that Taiwan could learn from the mainland's advanced technologies, such as the Internet of Things.
