The 2025 Beijing International Week of Intangible Cultural Heritage commenced on Friday in the city's Tongzhou District. The five-day event has attracted hundreds of inheritors and practitioners from more than 60 countries and regions across five continents, with nearly 10,000 exhibits on display.

Structured around four main segments – an opening ceremony, the International Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Exhibition, an ICH dialogue forum and an ICH market – the event offers an immersive celebration of heritage that connects China with the rest of the world.

At the exhibition held at the Beijing Grand Canal Museum, a cultural landmark dedicated to the history and culture of China's Grand Canal, a dialogue among civilizations is unfolding through a diverse array of crafts.

The opening ceremony featured performances of numerous items inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, along with traditional music and dance from various countries.

Additionally, an ICH dialogue forum was held on the afternoon of October 17 at the Beijing Library. The forum brought together ICH experts, inheritors and representatives from international organizations in China, Italy, Hungary, Georgia and other countries for in-depth discussions on the preservation of intangible cultural heritage.
