The Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee will take place in Beijing from October 20 to 23, following a decision made at a CPC Central Committee Political Bureau meeting on September 29.

What is the CPC Central Committee?  

The CPC Central Committee is the highest decision-making body of the Communist Party of China (CPC), responsible for setting major policies and overseeing the implementation of the Party's agenda. 

It is composed of officials elected by the National Congress and plays a central role in guiding the Party's direction and governance.

What are plenary sessions of the CPC Central Committee?

The plenary sessions of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee are meetings convened by the Chinese Political Bureau and held at least once a year.

The Central Committee serves a five-year term, and holds a plenary session every year, sometimes two, which means there are at least seven plenary sessions held during the Central Committee's five-year tenure.

What is the significance of the plenary sessions of the CPC Central Committee?

These sessions are where the CPC's top leadership discusses, formulates, and formalizes major national policies and strategies integral to the future direction of the country, particularly in economic, social, and political affairs.
