A close-up video filmed by a tourist in 2024 captured the dazzling imperial jewels now stolen from the Louvre Museum in Paris – still gleaming under glass before the theft. The heist took place around 9:30 a.m. local time on October 19, forcing the world-famous museum to close and sparking public concern over its security measures.
The stolen artifacts include the Imperial Crown of Empress Eugénie – reportedly dropped and later recovered outside the museum – her tiara and reliquary brooch, and a sapphire tiara from the collections of Queen Marie-Amélie and Queen Hortense.
According to French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez, the four perpetrators remain at large, with a manhunt underway.
