China has called on Japan's new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to uphold commitments on issues concerning history and Taiwan.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday that China's position on relations with Japan remains consistent and clear, expressing hope that Japan will uphold the political foundation of bilateral ties and work with China to advance the strategic relationship of mutual benefit.
