In early action at China's 15th National Games, the sailing competitions got underway in south China's Guangdong Province on Monday, and will finish at the end of October with 10 gold medals up for grabs.
More than 200 athletes representing 17 teams are set to participate in the competitions, which are all Olympic disciplines staged under IOC rules and regulations. The refereeing team has invited several well-known international arbitrators who have officiated at the Olympics to ensure the results are fair and just.
This year's National Games will feature 10 sailing events covering multiple categories, including hydrofoil windsurfing and hydrofoil kiteboarding. The first stage of the competition takes place from Monday to Wednesday, to determine the participants for the second stage.
