Demolition crews have begun tearing down part of the White House's historic East Wing to make room for President Donald Trump's planned ballroom.

This follows Trump's earlier claim that the project "wouldn't interfere" with the landmark structure. He addressed the project during a Rose Garden lunch, saying, "You hear that sound? Oh, that's music to my ears. I love that sound. Other people don't like it. I love it, Josh. I think when I hear that sound, it reminds me of money. In this case, it reminds me of a lack of money because I'm paying for it. So it's the opposite."
