A fuel tanker overturned and exploded in Niger State, north-central Nigeria, on October 21, killing at least 35 people, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps.
The tanker reportedly spilled petrol that ignited after the crash, destroying nearby motorcycles and homes.
Local witnesses said several victims were attempting to collect fuel when the explosion occurred. Deadly incidents of this kind are frequent in Nigeria due to poor road conditions and limited fuel transport infrastructure.
