Millions at risk of losing food aid if U.S. government shutdown continues

More than 40 million Americans could lose access to nutrition assistance next month if the U.S. government fails to reopen or the Trump administration does not reallocate funds for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as food stamps. Those affected include about 16 million children, eight million older adults and four million people with disabilities.
