Chongqing Municipality, a key economic and cultural hub in southwest China, and Incheon, South Korea's third-largest city as well as an important regional transportation hub, established their sister-city relationship in 2007. Since then, the two cities have maintained close ties in trade, tourism, culture, education and various other sectors.

The two cities also attach great importance to exchanges among the younger generation. In July this year, Chongqing sent three youth football teams to Incheon for an exchange event at the invitation of the Incheon Tourism Organization. The event marked a new effort to deepen sports cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the youth of the two countries.
