Is anxiety or depression simply a sign of being "too sensitive" or "overly dramatic"? Can AI truly offer help when we have mental health needs?
Dr Wang Zhen, vice president of the Shanghai Mental Health Center, explains that anxiety and depression, much like physical illnesses, have biological mechanisms. People with these conditions often strive to manage them and deserve empathy and support, not blame.
Dr Wang also discusses the use of AI in mental health care. He says that AI can provide basic assistance when human resources are limited, but it should never replace professional human guidance.
