This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War and also the 80th anniversary of Taiwan's restoration to China. The 18th session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) adopted a decision on Friday to designate October 25 as the Commemoration Day of Taiwan's Restoration. The commemoration, now established in law, will be marked through activities in various forms.

At the site of the anniversary event marking the restoration of Taiwan, CGTN Stringer interviewed several local residents. They stressed that the history of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression must not be distorted or forgotten, and they hope for peaceful coexistence and closer exchanges across the Taiwan Strait.
