The inaugural Huangguoshu Waterfall International Canoe Slalom Extreme event is underway, running from October 24 to 26 in Anshun City, Guizhou Province. Some 100 elite athletes from scores of countries and regions, including France, Germany, the United States, the Czech Republic, Italy, Slovenia, and China, are currently competing in this breathtaking event.

This landmark competition is being held on the world's first "through-the-waterfall" track, utilizing the main stretch of turbulent waters of the Huangguoshu Waterfall — Asia's largest at 77.8m tall and 101m wide.

The event features the challenging Wildwater Canoe Slalom and a Wildwater Long-Distance Race, both taking place entirely in natural waterways. Athletes face unexpected challenges due to the changing weather and complex river terrain, pushing their peak skills against the raw power of this natural masterpiece. This pioneering race cements Guizhou's vision for combining extreme sports with protected natural heritage.
