The "Innovation, Openness, Shared Development" Global Dialogue, organized by China Media Group (CMG), was held in Johannesburg, South Africa on Monday.
The event brought together senior figures from the political, economic, cultural, academic and media sectors of both China and South Africa, to discuss China's high-level opening up and global collaboration.
Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and president of CMG, highlighted the successful conclusion of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, which has drawn widespread global attention.
"It is foreseeable that, guided by China's new development blueprint, the country's door of openness will continue to widen, bringing more win-win opportunities to the world," said Shen. He noted that CMG, as the world's largest and most comprehensive international media organization, will work alongside its partners to build a global platform for dialogue and cooperation. By leveraging its international communication advantages, CMG will tell China's stories to the world, and deepen cooperation and exchanges in cutting-edge fields like artificial intelligence and ultra-high-definition technology, sharing China's innovative momentum with the world in the new era.
Blade Nzimande, South Africa's minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, expressed admiration for China's achievements during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
Despite global challenges, China's economy has achieved growth against the odds, injecting strong momentum into the world economy, said Nzimande.
He underscored the importance of further collaboration between China and South Africa in areas like climate change, digital economy, and space technology.
Chinese Ambassador to South Africa Wu Peng said that China is willing to work with South Africa to bring more tangible development achievements to the peoples of both countries and inject new opportunities for global prosperity.
South African Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Alvin Botes highlighted China's economic resilience and significant progress in high-quality development, which has provided crucial opportunities for Africa's industrialization.
During the dialogue session, student representatives from South Africa's universities, along with other guests, engaged in discussions on topics such as technological innovation, youth development, green transformation and business cooperation.
The students agreed that China-Africa cooperation is entering a new development phase. They believed that through its multilingual communication system and global media network, CMG has effectively enhanced African people's understanding of China's development achievements. This open and inclusive communication mechanism has created favorable conditions for African youth to deepen their understanding of China's development path and actively participate in China-Africa cooperation.
