Chinese Premier Li Qiang stated on Tuesday that China is ready to enhance multilateral cooperation with Malaysia to carry out the four major global initiatives proposed by China, promote true multilateralism, and defend international fairness and justice.

Li made these remarks during a meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on the sidelines of the East Asian cooperation leaders' meetings held in Malaysia, emphasizing that China and Malaysia are good neighbors and trusted partners.

In September, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Anwar in Beijing, where they reached a significant new consensus on strengthening the development of a China-Malaysia community with a shared future, Li said.

Noting that China always considers Malaysia a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy, Li expressed China's willingness to maintain close high-level exchanges, strengthen strategic cooperation, deepen practical collaboration, and further implement bilateral agreements to benefit both peoples.

Li noted that the fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) discussed and approved the recommendations of the CPC Central Committee for developing the 15th Five-Year Plan.

Expressing China's willingness to reinforce alignment with the 13th Malaysia Plan, Li stated that China aims to deepen the implementation of the Five-Year Programme for Economic and Trade Cooperation between the two countries, strengthen bilateral economic and trade ties, and explore cooperation potential in emerging areas such as the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and new energy, in order to develop new drivers of growth with Malaysia.

He called on both sides to expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges to foster greater public support for the friendship between the two countries.

China commends Malaysia for its important role as the rotating chair of ASEAN and is ready to work with all parties to implement the outcomes of the leaders' meetings on East Asian cooperation, aiming to bring more stability and positive energy to regional peace and development, Li said.
