The "Peony Ancient Ballads" in Pingtung, Taiwan, are based on the four major ancient ballad systems, including Xinbaojiang and Shimen. Among them, the "Xinbaojiang Ancient Ballad Class," promoted by the late elder Bai Yongwu, is the first group to strive to revive ancient ballads. Its oral ancient tunes are systematically notated and innovatively arranged, turning endangered heritage into a vital inheritance. The members of the Ancient Ballad Class have regained the beauty of rhyme and used ballads to interpret the vitality of Taiwan.
