China expresses sympathy for the American people suffering from the fentanyl crisis, and it has provided assistance to the United States and achieved positive results, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday.

China remains open to continued cooperation with the U.S. side, and calls on the U.S. to take concrete actions to create necessary conditions for such cooperation, spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks at a regular press briefing.

China's position on the issue has been consistent and clear. And China is implementing its anti-drug policies in the strictest and most thorough manner, Guo said, noting that China is one of the countries with the most drugs under control in the world, and with the strictest controls, he added.
