China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment has released the 2025 report on the country's policies and actions on climate response ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference in Belém, Brazil. According to the report, non-fossil fuels made up 19.8 percent of China's total energy consumption in 2024, while the share of coal fell from 67.4 percent in 2013 to 53.2 percent. In September, President Xi Jinping announced new Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) targets. Under the plan, by 2035, China aims to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by 7 percent to 10 percent from its peak level.
