As autumn deepens, the wetlands at Linhong Estuary in Lianyungang, east China's Jiangsu Province, are blanketed in a sea of crimson seepweeds, resembling a vast red carpet stretching out to the horizon. These hardy annual herbs, which thrive in coastal mudflats and saline-alkali lands, gradually turn from light red to deep crimson as their seeds ripen from September to November. The wetlands attract flocks of migratory birds that glide and forage among the reeds, adding life and movement to the tranquil landscape.
