Gen Z turns Chinese grannies into the main character

Granny Meiying has over a million followers on social media, most of them Gen Z. At the grand old age of 90, she is just one of many Chinese elders who are gaining online clout thanks to vlogs sharing their wisdom with younger generations.  

From cooking to gardening, these oldies show it is never too late to become the main character by living life to the max while giving back to the community in any way you can. 

China has made senior well-being a national priority, promoting active aging and social inclusion with the help of new technologies. And it's a win-win for young urban dwellers who are lapping up content showcasing traditional life skills. As the meme goes, "Let'em cook."
