One person was killed and two others were injured in a shooting early Saturday in the city of Minneapolis in the U.S. state of Minnesota, local authorities said.
Minneapolis police chief Brian O'Hara said that officers heard bursts of automatic gunfire around 2:30 a.m. local time in Dinkytown, a commercial district in Minneapolis.
According to O'Hara, one person died at the scene, while two others, including a University of Minnesota student, were taken to the hospital for injury treatment.
Police said three firearms were recovered at the scene, one of which belonged to the deceased male.
O'Hara said an investigation to determine who was carrying the weapons and what caused the shooting is underway.
The area was crowded overnight due to Halloween celebrations, O'Hara noted, describing the situation as "chaotic."
