The 2025 Beijing Marathon began early Sunday morning from Tiananmen Square to the Beijing Olympic Park. Ethiopia's Lemi Berhanu and Anchinalu Dessie claimed the men's and women's titles, respectively.
This year's race featured a field of 32,000 runners. The route passed the National Speed Skating Oval, highlighting the city's dual-Olympic heritage. The number of turnaround points in the second half was reduced to one.
The course covered eight comprehensive supply stations, seven water stations, and seven energy stations. Ethiopia's Berhanu successfully defended his men's title, crossing the finish line first in two hours, eight minutes, and ten seconds. His compatriot Dessie won the women's race in two hours, twenty-six minutes, and eight seconds.
In the domestic group, China's Li Dalin and Huang Xuemei topped the men's and women's races, respectively.
