The Jiangsu Super League concluded dramatically, with Taizhou edging Nantong in a tense penalty shootout in Nanjing to claim the title.
After nearly six months of competition, the inaugural Jiangsu Super League culminated at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Center, where a record crowd of 62,329 fans watched their teams compete.
Both sides created several chances during regular time. Nantong, the top seed with an unbeaten record, faced Taizhou, the sixth seed, who continued to surprise everyone with their underdog run, but neither team managed to score.
Penalties decided the match. Nantong's first kicker missed, while Taizhou, having won their previous two knockout games via shootouts, demonstrated their experience by converting the first four spot kicks.
When Nantong's captain, Li Xiancheng, saw his shot saved by goalkeeper Dai Yaocheng, Taizhou secured an incredible 4-3 victory, completing their run to the Jiangsu Super League championship.
