A special session of the "Innovation, Openness, Shared Development Global Dialogue," focusing on Nigeria, was held in Lagos on October 31. The event was co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG) and the Chinese Consulate General in Lagos, bringing together around 300 participants from the political, business, academic and media sectors in both China and Nigeria.

In a video address, CMG President Shen Haixiong highlighted the significance of the recently concluded Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, calling it as another major milestone in the new era. He said China will continue to expand high-level opening up and promote win-win cooperation. Looking back on the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) period, he noted that China's economy has reached new heights, contributing about 30 percent to global growth.

Shen also cited a recent CGTN global survey showing that over 84 percent of respondents regard China as a successful country, while 86.4 percent recognize China's significant contribution to global development. He said that under China's new development blueprint, the country's door to openness will only open wider, creating more opportunities for shared growth.

During the dialogue session, participants exchanged views on the theme "Building a Sustainable and Prosperous Future Together." They agreed that China and African countries should work hand in hand to chart a new course for mutually beneficial cooperation, driven by high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and a shared commitment to sustainable prosperity.
