The opening ceremony of the 2025 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Media Partners Cooperation Week, themed "Openness, Culture, and a Shared Home," took place in south China's Nanning on Monday. The event was co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG) and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, attracting about 200 participants, including government officials, ambassadors to China, media professionals, and experts from both China and ASEAN.
Fan Yun, deputy editor-in-chief of CMG and editor-in-chief of CGTN, emphasized the importance of the recently concluded Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, adding that China will continue to expand its high-level opening-up and promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.
CMG sees "openness" as a sailboat to explore how artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud communication can be used in the media field, helping media cooperation efforts better benefit people from different regions, Fan said.
CMG regards "culture" as the pulse for creating people-centered, grounded, and warm communication activities, he added.

CMG also sees "homeland" as its goal, aiming to continue using the 85 languages of China Media Group (CMG), CGTN's integrated media platform, and 192 overseas stations to effectively tell the story of China-ASEAN cooperation and mutual benefits, according to Fan.
In a video address, Khamphanh Pheuyavong, a member of the Secretariat of the LPRP Central Committee and head of the Propaganda and Training Commission of the LPRP Central Committee, said that this event not only shows the spirit of cooperation but also reaffirms the long-standing and strong bond of friendship between the people of China and ASEAN countries.
In this rapidly changing digital age, the media is no longer just a reporter of news; it serves as an important "bridge" that links cultures and improves understanding, Khamphanh said, adding that China and ASEAN share close geographic ties and rich cultural connections.
The media has the duty to build a bridge of friendship, working together to tell positive stories of cooperation and growth, and jointly creating a stable, resilient, and sustainable "community of shared destiny," he said.
Khamphanh said Laos is eager to deepen media cooperation with China and other ASEAN member states and believes that this Cooperation Week will serve as an important platform for "inspiring new thinking and exploring new paths," elevating media collaboration to new levels.
