The 2nd China-Europe Scientists Forum was held in Heidelberg, Germany, on Saturday and Sunday, aiming to deepen scientific and technological cooperation between China and Europe.

Hundreds of scientists, scholars, and business representatives from both sides held in-depth discussions on cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), ICT transformation, control engineering and sustainable systems.

In addition to keynote speeches, the forum consisted of a series of online and offline parallel sessions, covering topics such as AI and advanced manufacturing, ICT transformation, translational and clinical medicine, carbon neutrality and new energy, and China-Europe sci-tech global strategies.

According to Zhou Jie, rotating president of the Federation of Chinese Professional Associations in Europe, the community of Chinese scientists is increasingly transitioning from "followers" to "contributors."

Zhou Jie expressed hope that the forum would serve as a "connector" linking the scientific minds of China and Europe, an "accelerator" for the transformation of knowledge and technology, and an "incubator" for nurturing the ideas of young talents.

Zhou Zhiqiang, the education counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Germany, emphasized in his speech that sci-tech exchanges have always been an important bridge connecting China and Europe.

Confronted with global challenges, Chinese and European scientists must join hands and address them through joint efforts, said Zhou Zhiqiang, adding that there is great potential for cooperation between the two sides in fields such as AI, biomedicine and climate change.
