The Grottoes Close to His Heart

President Xi Jinping has, on numerous occasions, stressed the importance of preserving China's rich cultural heritage. A particular focus of his concern is the country's ancient grottoes and the art they contain. "Historical and cultural heritage is a valuable resource that is neither renewable nor replaceable," he has said, "and its protection should always be given top priority."  

Today, under the thoughtful guidance of President Xi Jinping, efforts to protect and restore China's ancient grottoes and the priceless art they contain are being stepped up across the country. Inspired by the "Mogao Spirit", cultural relics workers are finding innovative ways of preserving this important part of China's rich cultural heritage.
