Third-seeded Chinese player Wang Yidi staged a remarkable comeback in France to defeat Germany's Sabine Winter 4-3 and claim the women's singles title at the WTT Champions Montpellier.
The 26th-ranked Winter started strong, taking the first game 11-8. Wang fought back in the second game but hit long on game point, allowing Winter to win 12-10.
Wang then found her form in the third game, winning it 11-5, and followed that up by claiming the fourth game 11-4. However, Winter responded in the fifth game, winning 11-6 to make the overall score 3-2 in her favor.
Demonstrating incredible composure under pressure, World No. 5 Wang took the sixth game 12-10 to force a decider. The seventh game proved equally dramatic, with Winter initially building a 7-3 lead. Wang managed to level it at 9 and went on to win 11-9, securing the title.
