At the opening of the 2025 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Media Partners Cooperation Week in Nanning on Monday, ASEAN journalists focused on strengthening China-ASEAN ties and exploring AI's role in media. Cohosted by China Media Group (CMG) and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the event drew about 200 participants, including government officials, ambassadors, media professionals and experts from both China and ASEAN.

"Media bridges cultures and fosters mutual understanding," shared Kem Gunawadh, secretary of Cambodia's Ministry of Information. Dhanakorn Srisooksai, chief executive officer of the Thai Media Fund, highlighted AI's power to propel regional collaborations. Phonesavanh Thikeo from Laos' Vientiane Times saw the event as a way for technology to unite media communities, while Adelia Astari from Indonesia's Bharata Online observed growing interest in China's innovations. CGTN's Mi Sutong also spoke with media guests from the Philippines and Indonesia about the role of media cooperation in fostering regional understanding.
