China is ready to help Afghanistan based on its needs, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Tuesday when asked about an earthquake that hit near a northern Afghan city on Monday.

At least 27 people died after a 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit northern Afghanistan early Monday, according to local officials.
