Guangdong won the men's team diving gold medal at the 15th National Games of China at home in Guangzhou on Monday. It's their eighth straight time winning this event.
Huang Bowen and Xie Siyi joined forces for Guangdong in the first round of the synchronized 3-meter springboard competitions. They finished second with 258.48 points, behind 266.88 from Wang Zongyuan and Zheng Jiuyuan of Hubei. Guo Haoyu and Hu Yukang, who also represent Guangdong, picked up 257.46 to come third.
Shaanxi's Zhao Renjie secured a shocking win in the second round of the 10-meter platform with 493.80 points, but Zhu Zifeng and Huang Jianjie kept Guangdong ahead with 1,442,44 points in total.
Hubei rose to second in the third round thanks to the incredible performances of Wang and Xie in the 3m springboard event.
The fourth and final round was the synchronized 10m platform battle. Chen Aisen paired with Zhu Zifeng to score 267.12 points for Guangdong. Then their teammates Mo Yonghua ang Zheng Junzhi added 223.08, making sure that Guangdong retained he men's team title.
Hubei earned the silver and Shandong came away with the bronze.
