The Peruvian government has decided to cut diplomatic ties with Mexico, Peruvian Foreign Minister Hugo de Zela announced at a press conference on Monday. The decision comes after Mexico granted asylum to Betssy Chavez, a former Peruvian prime minister, who is being prosecuted for a failed coup attempt in December 2022.
