Li Hongzhong, vice chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, called on China and Vietnam to encourage their young people to contribute to the development of bilateral ties on Tuesday.

Li, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks when meeting with Bui Quang Huy, vice president of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and first secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, in Beijing.

China welcomes Vietnamese youth to visit for "Red Study Tours" upon invitation, Li said, referring to a program that allows young people to explore the revolutionary heritage that underpins the bilateral friendship.

In accordance with the important instructions of the top leaders of the two parties and two countries on strengthening youth exchanges, both sides should encourage young people to contribute to building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance, Li said.

Li also spoke about the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.

Bui Quang Huy voiced readiness to deepen youth exchanges between the two countries and contribute to promoting bilateral ties.
