A symbol of Wuhan and a must-visit landmark, the Yellow Crane Tower perches proudly atop Snake Hill, rising high above the city skyline.
Said to be first built in 223 AD during the Three Kingdoms period (220-280 AD) as a military watchtower, it gradually transformed into a celebrated scenic spot and cultural icon – a source of inspiration for countless poets, painters, and writers across the centuries.
Though destroyed and rebuilt many times, each version reflects the architectural style of its era. The current five-story pavilion, modeled after a Qing Dynasty design, was completed in 1981 and soars over 51 meters high. It offers visitors sweeping views of the mighty Yangtze River, its iconic bridges, and Wuhan's vibrant cityscape.
Join CGTN reporter Lucy as she explores the timeless charm of this legendary tower, and stay tuned for our upcoming episode, "240-Hour Pass in China: Where Pavilions Meet Peaks!"
