Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said China has always maintained an objective and fair position on the Iranian nuclear issue during a phone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Wednesday.

Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said the current stalemate in the political settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue is not in the common interest of the international community. 

He noted that China appreciates Iran's recent reaffirmation of its commitment not to develop nuclear weapons and supports Iran's legitimate right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy. 

Wang called on all parties to maintain dialogue and communication and to bring the Iranian nuclear issue back onto the track of negotiations.

Araghchi expressed appreciation for China's fair stance and constructive role on the Iranian nuclear issue, saying that Iran is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with all parties based on equality and mutual benefit.

During the call, Wang also emphasized that China attaches great importance to developing its relations with Iran. He noted that in September, the two heads of state held a successful meeting and reached an important consensus on deepening bilateral ties, providing strategic guidance for future cooperation.

Noting that next year marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Iran, Wang said China is ready to work with Iran to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, pursue national development and revitalization together, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and elevate the China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level.

Wang praised Iran's active support for the four major global initiatives and said China is willing to work with Iran and the international community to promote building a fairer and more equitable global governance system.

Araghchi said Iran highly values its relations with China and is willing to take the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties as an opportunity to enhance high-level exchanges, explore new areas of cooperation, and strengthen mutual support. 

He expressed appreciation for China's role in upholding fairness and justice in international affairs and said Iran looks forward to maintaining close coordination with China to jointly promote regional peace, stability, and development.
