Chinese-made passenger eVTOLs shine at Shanghai's CIIE

A number of homegrown passenger electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft made their collective debut at the ongoing 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai.

The showcase highlighted the INFLYNC L600 – the world's first full-size tiltwing ducted-fan eVTOL. With a wingspan of 13.5 meters, a length of 10 meters and a height of 3.5 meters, it has a maximum take-off weight of 2.8 tons and a maximum payload capacity of 620 kilograms. Thanks to its hybrid extended-range and full tiltwing ducted-fan design, the aircraft can fly up to 600 kilometers at a top cruising speed of 360 km/h. It can carry one pilot and five passengers, and supports multiple take-offs and landings on a single charge, meeting diverse low-altitude travel needs in cities.

As a new type of aircraft, eVTOLs are powered by electric motors and adopt distributed propulsion technology, enabling them to take off and land vertically. They are set to play a key role in the future of transportation. It is expected that they will complement ground transportation, help build a multi-layered transportation system, ease traffic congestion, and improve travel efficiency.
