The Philippines declared a national state of calamity on Thursday after Typhoon Kalmaegi caused widespread devastation across the country. At least 140 people have been killed and over 100 remain missing, with more than 1.95 million residents affected nationwide. The declaration also notes that the country must prepare for another incoming storm, Typhoon Phoenix.
