Nguyen Thanh Lam, president of Vietnam Television, said in a speech on Thursday that countries in the Global South deserve a more prominent position in the global media landscape. However, due to an imbalanced international public opinion environment, the images and stories of developing countries are often not presented objectively or comprehensively, he added.
Speaking at the Global South Media Partners Mechanism Inauguration Meeting and the 13th Global Video Media Forum in Xi'an, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, he said the new mechanism will help build a more inclusive and diverse global media environment, safeguard the discourse power and interests of developing countries, respect diversity, promote development and foster collective efforts.
