Guangdong, with a total land area of 179,800 square kilometers and a sea area of 419,300 sq km, has the longest mainland coastline in China. By the end of 2024, the province's permanent population was estimated at around 128 million, with an urbanization rate of 75.91 percent. Guangdong's economic output accounts for roughly one-tenth of China's total, and the province has remained the country's top economic performer for 36 consecutive years.
