Typhoon Kalmaegi has moved away from the Philippines, leaving at least 188 people dead and 135 missing.
The humanitarian impact has been enormous, with more than 560,000 displaced individuals having taken shelter in evacuation centers. The torrential rains brought by the typhoon triggered widespread flooding in 115 areas across the country. A state of emergency has been declared to expedite relief and rehabilitation efforts. It was the 20th typhoon to hit the Philippines this year.
