Recently, American economist Jeffrey Sachs called for China and the United States to pursue shared interests through dialogue and cooperation in an interview. He emphasized that the only path to identifying shared interests is through mutual engagement, which should become routine at the governmental level and advance through people-to-people exchanges among scholars, universities, athletes and tourists to build trust and reject narratives of enmity or rivalry. He particularly encouraged students to study in China for a semester, describing it as a lifelong way to promote cooperation.
