To mark the 80th anniversary of Taiwan's restoration, China Media Group (CMG) has released a five-episode documentary series to commemorate the event, which has received wide acclaim.

Produced and filmed by CMG correspondents in Taiwan, the series took two months to complete. Journalists visited historical sites in Taipei and interviewed dozens of historians and descendants of anti-Japanese patriots to collect firsthand oral histories.

With a factual and evidence-based approach, the documentary revisits the suffering brought about by Japanese colonial rule and highlights the courage and patriotism of people in Taiwan who resisted foreign aggression. It also uses solid historical evidence to refute the fallacy that "Taiwan's status is undetermined" and exposes the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities' attempts to distort historical truth.

Through symbolic objects such as weapons, letters and train tickets, the film tells human-centered stories that bring history closer to life, sparking strong resonance across the island.

Mainstream media in Taiwan, such as Want Daily and Meihua Media, praised it for offering a new perspective on shared cross-strait memory, while the president of Taiwan's China Times called on compatriots on both sides to remember history and cherish unity. Many viewers in Taiwan urged the DPP authorities to face historical facts and stop misleading the public.

By revisiting the voices and memories of 1945, the documentary underscores the shared destiny of compatriots across the Taiwan Strait. The film conveys that only through solidarity and cooperation can the Chinese nation safeguard national sovereignty and achieve the great cause of reunification and rejuvenation.
