The world's first international standard for industrial 5G, led by China, has been officially released by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) announced on Thursday.

The standard was jointly proposed by China and Germany and developed with the participation of experts from the United States, France, Japan and several other countries. It fills a gap in international standards in the field of industrial 5G, the SAMR said.

The standard focuses on the basic architecture, operation mechanisms and maintenance management of 5G networks in industrial environments. It also provides practical use cases for applying 5G technologies in industrial scenarios and offers unified technical specifications for global users, designers and equipment manufacturers.

In recent years, China's information and communications industry has made remarkable progress, with 5G applications expanding across industries and more than 20,000 "5G + industrial internet" projects established nationwide.

The release of the standard marks a milestone in the integration of 5G and industry, contributing Chinese wisdom and solutions to the global digital transformation of manufacturing, the SAMR said.
