CMG, IOC sign long-term media rights agreement for 2026-2032 Olympics

China Media Group (CMG) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) signed a long-term media rights agreement for upcoming editions of the Olympics from 2026 to 2032 in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province, on Sunday. The signing ceremony took place just hours before the official start of the country's 15th National Games.

In her first visit to China since taking over as IOC President, Kirsty Coventry said it is of great significance for the two sides to ink the deal on same day as the opening ceremony for the National Games.

Coventry noted that the agreement not only adds a new chapter to the long-term ties between CMG and the IOC, but also represents a standing commitment by both sides to promote peace and unity with sportsmanship.

Former IOC chief Thomas Bach attended the signing ceremony as well. He said he was impressed by CMG's excellent work and professionalism while cooperating with the Olympic governing body.

Bach added that he's glad such a partnership will be inherited by Coventry, who can take the relationship to the next stage of development.

The agreement awarded CMG exclusive broadcasting rights in Chinese mainland and Macao SAR (Special Administrative Region) for the 2026 and 2030 Winter Olympics, as well as the 2028 and 2032 Summer Olympics, along with the 2026 and 2030 Youth Olympics.

CMG and the IOC also released the creative logo for CMG's coverage of 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics.
