A powerful tornado tore through southern Brazil on November 7, killing six people, injuring at least 750 and flattening entire neighborhoods in the municipality of Rio Bonito do Iguacu, according to Parana state officials.

Footage showed cars piled on top of each other, roofs ripped off homes, and residents salvaging belongings from the rubble.

About 1,000 people have been displaced, with temporary shelters set up in the nearby town of Laranjeiras do Sul. 

The government declared three days of official mourning and a state of public calamity, which allows for emergency funds and federal support.
